“Prevention Of Sexual Harassment” in Work-Places in organized and un-organized sectors.
What is POSH Training ?
It is a form of education and awareness program designed to prevent and address sexual harassment in the workplace or other settings.
The main objective of POSH training is to create a safe and respectful environment for all individuals, promoting gender equality and ensuring that no one experiences harassment based on their gender, sex, or any other protected characteristics.
What does it include?
POSH training typically covers several key areas, including:
- Understanding sexual harassment: Educating participants about what constitutes sexual harassment, including its different forms (verbal, physical, visual, or written) and the impact it can have on victims and workplaces.
- Types of harassment: Distinguishing between quid pro quo harassment (where employment decisions are based on sexual favors) and hostile work environment harassment (where inappropriate behavior creates an intimidating or offensive workplace).
- Recognizing red flags: Helping participants recognize the warning signs of sexual harassment and identifying inappropriate behaviors.
- Reporting mechanisms: Informing participants about the proper channels and procedures to report incidents of sexual harassment within their organization.
- Company policies: Familiarizing participants with the organization’s policies and procedures regarding sexual harassment, along with the consequences for engaging in such behavior.
- Role-playing and scenarios: Using interactive exercises to demonstrate different situations and how to respond effectively to prevent or address harassment.
- Creating a positive workplace culture: Promoting a culture of respect, open communication, and zero tolerance for harassment.
POSH training is often mandated by law in many countries, including INDIA, and employers are required to conduct regular training sessions to raise awareness and ensure compliance with anti-sexual harassment regulations. It helps create a safer and more inclusive work environment, reduces the risk of legal liabilities for employers, and contributes to building a positive workplace culture where all employees can thrive without fear of harassment.
